NEW YORK, Feb. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Alpine Global Management, LLC., a leading investment firm specializing in event-driven trading of equity-based instruments across global markets, announced the hiring of Matthew Courter as senior trader and portfolio manager. Courter joins Alpine Global after 15 years of sell-side experience at both Deutsche Bank and Bear Stearns, bringing with him extensive expertise in global event-driven and index trading.

“Matthew embodies the entrepreneurial spirit we so highly value at Alpine Global,” said Uriel Cohen, Co-Founder of Alpine Global Management. “We have been dedicated to attracting the most talented and experienced professionals in the industry, and we’re confident Matthew’s proven expertise will only add to the collective success of the firm.”

Courter joins from Deutsche Bank, where he spent ten years as a senior sales trader, and most recently as head of the U.S. ETF sales and trading desk, where he oversaw a global institutional client base. Courter began his career on Wall Street working for Bear Stearns’ portfolio trading desk under Bret Chesney, who now manages Alpine’s global event-driven trading portfolio. In his new role at Alpine, Courter will focus on global arbitrage opportunities, trading exposures via ETFs due to events in the marketplace.

“I am excited to take my sell-side experience to a buy-side environment such as Alpine, where value is placed on fostering innovation and exploring new ideas,” said Courter.

Courter graduated from Rutgers University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and started his professional career in technology consulting at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture).
